Catherine Servel is a photographer and jewelry designer.
Her fine arts background includes degrees in photography from the School of Visual Arts in NY as well as Arts Appliqués from Atelier Met de Penninghen in Paris.
In her work, Catherine seeks to confront and defy pervasive consensual ideals of femininity and beauty proliferated by mass media imagery and excessive consumerism. Her idols are monumental, graphic, and tactile forms that suggest freedom from the media’s chains that tightly bind our individual and collective identities.
